what it is
Dots are OpenAI's always-on agents, launched in ChatGPT on September 29, 2026 and powered by GPT-6 Astra. You name your primary dot and work with it by message or voice call in ChatGPT, Slack or Teams. Each dot has its own cloud computer and browser, connects to over 4,000 apps through plugins, can optionally use your own computer, keeps its own notes and learns your preferences, and keeps working on ongoing responsibilities in the background, checking risky actions against your Custom Rules and asking for approval when needed.

ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium users, and Enterprise teams in the beta, who want an agent that owns ongoing work across their apps rather than answering one prompt at a time.
how to start
- 1Make sure you are on ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium in an eligible market (Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare workspaces need an admin to enable the beta).
- 2Open dots in the ChatGPT desktop app, a desktop browser or the ChatGPT mobile app (mobile web is not supported) and follow the introduction.
- 3Name your dot and customize how it looks.
- 4Connect plugins for the apps it should use, such as email, calendar and files; optionally connect your own computer or Slack.
- 5Give it an ongoing responsibility with the sources and the decisions that need you, and review its work in Activity.

No free tier.
Your first dot is included in ChatGPT Pro (from $100/month) and Business Premium ($125/user/month, or $100 billed annually) at no extra cost, with an allowance for deeper work. Conversations with your dot don't count toward ChatGPT limits; tasks it starts in Codex or ChatGPT Work do.
Rolling out gradually. At launch, Pro access excluded the EEA, Switzerland and the UK.
